Pile Wrap

Perma-pile is method used to prevent marine borer attacks of timber piles by encasing new or fairly new piles.  In addition, Perma-Pile keeps the chemicals that are used to treat the piles from leaching into the water. Perma-pile creates a stagnant envelope around the piles and prevents marine borer attacks by restricting oxygen and nourishment.  Perma-pile is impervious to UV damage.

Millions of tiny Limnoria Tripunctata can destroy chemically treated pilings in less than 5 years.

Another major cause of damage is the Tereine borer shipworm. Timber piles in heavy borer infested or brackish waters frequently receive attack from mud line to high tide range. A Perma-pile wrapped system creates a stagnant envelope around the borer attack areas which is lethal to the existing marine life.  The encasing restricts the oxygen and nourishment while providing protection against any new attack.

Ideally, Perma-pile should be installed on new or fairly new pilings to prevent any borer attack and to keep protective chemicals from leaching out by the water currents. Perma-pile is a high molecular density polyethylene with a medium weight distribution. This resin has a superior stress crack resistance, combined with high impact strength and rigidity.  It is not a PVC which will get brittle after being exposed to the sunlight.

Perma-pile is impervious to UV damage and can withstand temperatures ranging from -40*F to 200*F.
